U.S. Department of Energy Launches FASST $12 Billion AI Initiative; NIST Offers $70 Million for Manufacturing USA Institute, July 25 Webinar
The U.S. Department of Energy has introduced a $12 billion initiative called FASST, aimed at developing integrated scientific artificial intelligence systems over the next five years. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the United States’ capabilities in artificial intelligence, leveraging resources from the Department of Energy and its national laboratories. Concurrently, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has announced a funding opportunity for a new Manufacturing USA institute focused on utilizing AI to bolster the resilience of U.S. manufacturing. NIST anticipates providing up to $70 million in funding for this initiative and will host a webinar on July 25 at 2:00 p.m. EDT to discuss the opportunity further.
