Neuralink is preparing to implant its second human patient with a brain-machine interface, marking a significant step forward in the field of brain-computer interfaces (BCI). The technology, which has the potential to transform thought into text and treat various neurological conditions such as depression, Alzheimer’s, chronic pain, epilepsy, and ADHD, is being developed by several startups. Inbrain’s graphene-based BCI could be used to treat Parkinson’s disease, while Blackrock Neurotech is also making strides in improving lives through BCI technology. Blake Guidry, producer from the Morning Brew, explains how brain chips are a reality now. Additionally, a non-metallic graphene chip designed for next-gen brain implants is scheduled for its first surgery, which could be used for brain stimulation in the future.
